Deputy Editor
Alex Cranz is the Deputy Editor at The Verge. Before that she spent five years overseeing the consumer tech coverage at Gizmodo and whacking gadgets with a machete. Her work has also appeared in Wall Street Journal, Wired, and Laptop Mag and she has trained at least two dogs to do fist bumps.
And not even from the press! Besides Westworld and Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton created ER and his widow is now claiming that everyone involved in a potential reboot or sequel to the series instead boxed Crichton’s estate out and gathered to make The Pitt instead — including lead actor Noah Wyle.
Edgar Bronfman Jr. did have some of the credentials to run Paramount. That’s why the heir turned film producer, music mogul, and chairman of FuboTV plus a group of investors made a last minute bid. Now that he’s withdrawn Skydance and David Ellison, son of Oracle’s Larry Ellison, are all but assured to be the new owners of CBS, MTV, and crucially to me — Star Trek.

Robert and Michelle King’s last two shows, Evil and The Good Fight were both pretty clearly skeptical of Big Tech by the end. Presumably this show will be slightly more grounded with fewer snipers and demons involved in the next big tech moment. And given how much the Kings have to say on how tech is transforming our culture, I can’t wait to see what they do focusing their sites on Apple and its ilk.
If you just got a Pixel 9 and you want to do more than potentially break the long held social contract we all shared around photos than soon you’ll be able to put the excellent Arc browser on it!
Now to patiently wait for extension support in the mobile version of Arc. I’ve been using it on my Mac and iPhone for months and cannot wait to put it on my Pixel and Boox Palma too.
Disney just created a committee to find Iger’s replacement as he’s repeatedly said he doesn’t plan to stay CEO long. But he also said that before his last replacement, Bob Chapek, was terminated and Iger returned. So maybe it will be someone new! Or maybe it will just be Bob with a mustache.
But it could also lead to a lot more unnecessary calls to 911. We’ve got a lot more reporting to do to figure out just how game-changing this new feature for Google’s wearable is in its current iteration, but this could lead to an exciting and less scary future for people with sick relatives or folks who live alone.
Keke Palmer just interrupted the event to hype an after-event event and her book. All I could think about was how the guy from “Hot Ones” said she’s the most charming person he ever interviewed on the show.
Yup, it’s 2024 and we’re talking about the importance of phone RAM. I’d roll my eyes that this is still a conversation, but after trying a lot of different Android E Ink tablets with different amounts of RAM, I can confirm — RAM is very important!
